The 4R100 has an external cooler bypass tube that allows transmission fluid to bypass the transmission cooler. These bypass tubes are known to malfunction or stick and allow fluid to bypass the cooler when it shouldn't be. This kit eliminates the bypass tube off the side of the 4R100 transmission, forcing ALL of the fluid to be sent through the transmission cooler. It's a great addition to a truck with an upgarded transmission cooling setup (additional or larger than stock cooler) and aftermarket transmission temperature gauge.
